Music

Intent

There is music in every child. Our aim is to find it and nurture it. At Hawridge & Cholesbury C of E School, we believe that through teaching and learning music, children will develop confidence, concentration and listening skills, as well as developing our school value of Teamwork. We understand how the study of music enables children to express themselves creatively, which has a positive impact on their mental health and wellbeing.

The children in our school follow Charanga Musical scheme for our units of work and are given weekly opportunities to join together in songs of worship. They are also encouraged to share their musical learning and are taught to value and respect the work of others. Children listen to music from a variety of different cultures and learn to appreciate music from around the world. They have access to a range of tuned and untuned instruments including Djembe drums, and are encouraged to make music using natural objects from our beautiful school grounds.
