Music

Intent

We believe there is music in every child. Our aim is to enable children to be FRESH by finding and nurturing a love and appreciation of music, both as a performer and as a member of an audience.  At Hawridge & Cholesbury CE School, we believe that through teaching and learning music, children will grow in confidence, and develop their concentration and listening skills. We understand how the study and appreciation of music enables children to express themselves creatively and how this can have a positive impact on their mental health and wellbeing.

The children in our school follow Charanga Musical scheme for our units of work and are given weekly opportunities to join together in songs of worship. They are also encouraged to share their musical learning and are taught to value and respect the work of others. Children listen to music from a variety of different cultures and learn to appreciate music from around the world. They have access to a range of tuned and untuned instruments including Djembe drums, and are encouraged to make music using natural objects from our beautiful school grounds. We work closely with the Buckinghamshire Music Trust who come into school to deliver 1:1 music lessons.
